As recently as 2015, a bank with a strong foothold in Western New York – Evans Bank – was accused of redlining and was required to pay over $1 million in fines to settle the lawsuit. Although federal policy prohibits this type of discriminatory behavior and has for over half a century, banks may still be directly engaged in these actions.
